SYNOPSIS

35-year-old Joanna is an artist. Or, she was until she became a marketing associate. And she’s not that anymore because she was just let go -- during her maternity leave. With no job to return to, Joanna spends her endless days and nights with her baby, Alma.

Disconnected from her old life but uncertain of the next chapter, Joanna goes in search of a friend. When she can’t connect with strangers, new moms, old friends, or even her husband Lucien, Joanna turns to her estranged aunt Miriam, a reclusive once-famous theatre actress.

Miriam seems the perfect companion for Joanna -- she’s artsy, honest, eccentric, and she hates babies. Drawn to each other’s creative spirits, they forge a rocky, liberating friendship. But all goes haywire when Joanna tries to mother her aunt instead of her baby. When Joanna gets wise to Miriam’s manic swings, she takes the friendship too far by throwing her aunt an ill-fated "Elder Shower" with old friends. The party flops, and Miriam renounces their friendship. But when the baby finally looks at Joanna and Miriam, they discover that they’re not friends -- they’re family.

Another Happy Day is an absurd, tense comedy exploring postpartum depression, intergenerational friendship, and what it means to be family.
